Amidst the breathtaking landscapes of Novi Pazar, a city rich in cultural heritage, with our dedicated workshop participants, we’ve been setting up tents as part of an inclusive outdoor workshop that connects young minds to the wonders of nature. At the heart of these workshops lies a unique concept – “tenting,” a term coined to describe the enchanting process of setting up tents and immersing in the world of nature with children and youth. This endeavor not only imparts valuable insights about the environment but also nurtures a sense of community and adventure.
In collaboration with our partner, the Merhamet Sandžak association, these workshops are designed to be deeply inclusive. As canvas tents rise against the backdrop of picturesque natural surroundings, a spirit of curiosity and learning awakens in the participants. Guided by experienced mentors, young participants learn the art of setting up camp, unraveling the complexities of tent assembly, and forging connections with the great outdoors.
The workshops are carefully structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of the environment and camping. Beyond a pragmatic grasp of outdoor life, participants are exposed to nature’s secrets – from identifying plants and animals to understanding the importance of conservation. Engaging in interactive activities such as nature walks, wildlife observation, and interactive discussions fosters a newfound deep appreciation for the world around them.
The benefits of these workshops extend far beyond the acquired practical skills. Participants not only gain a deeper understanding of ecological systems but also develop life skills such as teamwork, problem-solving, and adaptability. The environment fosters unity, breaks down barriers, and cultivates connections among diverse participants. These workshops aren’t just about learning to set up tents; they’re about building resilience and forging lasting bonds.
In a world dominated by screens and virtual interactions, these workshops offer a necessary refuge in the embrace of nature. By encouraging young minds to distance themselves from technology and embrace the simplicity of outdoor life, the workshops inspire a profound sense of awe and discovery. From identifying suitable terrain for tent setup to kindling campfires, each experience becomes a chapter in their personal adventure story.
The city of Novi Pazar, with its rich historical mosaic, serves as an ideal backdrop for this endeavor. The subtle balance between centuries-old architecture and modern efforts to connect with nature creates a unique dynamic. The workshops echo this balance, nurturing an understanding of the environment’s role in shaping both history and contemporary life.
Through “tenting,” they aren’t just setting up tents – they’re setting the stage for a lifelong connection with nature and a future enriched by experiences that broaden horizons.
In Novi Pazar, inclusive workshops as part of the Reintegration project have been taking place for the fourth consecutive year, and we already have generations growing up in our Goodneighborhood Club Novi Pazar.
The total value of the project for the city of Novi Pazar amounts to €310,000. Information about project activities, open competitions, and more is available on the project website – www.reintegracija.net, as well as on the website of the City of Novi Pazar, partner organizations, the Merhamet Sandžak association, and the Regional Development Agency SEDA.
The project is led by ASB (Arbeiter-Samariter-Bund), with the implementing partner being the Initiative for Development and Cooperation (IDC).
